Additional Information

  • Bring cash for t-shirts and concessions.
  • RSL t-shirts will be $15 each (they will also accept checks made out to “RSL”)
  • All seating will be outside (bring canopies so your are protected from the weather).
  • The pool deck area is only to be used for spectators to “watch and go”. There will be bleachers set up in the pool area. These bleachers are to be used only to watch your children swim. Please do not plan on staying all day in the bleachers. You will be asked to move to make room for others who are coming in to watch their children swim.
  • Concessions will be outside in the pavilion behind the gym.
  • NO FOOD OR DRINKS are allowed in the pool area. There will be safety marshals stationed throughout the facility to ensure these rules are being enforced. Food and drinks are allowed in the team areas.
  • Parking: do not park in front of the building - those spaces are reserved for YMCA members using the gym not a part of the meet
  • Use of audio or visual recording devices, including cell phones, is not permitted in the changing areas, rest room or locker rooms. Photography behind the blocks is not permitted.
  • Scoring will be in the lobby. Please note: No children or unassigned parents will be allowed in this area
  • The bathrooms in the locker rooms are there for swimmers to use. Spectators are to use the bathrooms in the lobby, outside in the Pavilion or the family bathrooms at the back of the main hall near the locker room and gym
  • In the event of thunder and lightning all people are asked to immediately clear the pool deck and go to your car.  Thunder and lightening delays are 30 minutes from the last occurrence. Please be sure you have the SwimTopia app downloaded for alerts and updates. This meet will not be rescheduled. We will need to wait it out.
  • The King George YMCA will be providing the lifeguards. Please remember that we are to abide by their rules.
  • First aid will be handled by the lifeguards. Please report to the lifeguard office in the pool area if any needs arise. King George County has been made aware of our event and the need for coverage.
  • Please respect the YMCA property and keep your area clean and damage free.
  • YMCA members will be allowed into the weight room during our meet.
  • You may drop off swimmers and guest in front of the building.

For the inclement weather: For thunder/lightning, we ask that individuals shelter in cars until the meet can resume. If there is excess rain without thunder or lightning, we can set up a clerk of the course on the pool deck to help the continuation of the meet's progress. Tents and umbrellas are recommended for inclement weather preparation.

Other considerations: The pool heater is outside, and they will rope it off. However, we ask that the safety marshals enforce the following rules: no touching, playing, or throwing things, such as footballs/balls, around the heater. Safety marshals are also asked to patrol the locker rooms at various times throughout the meet.

Heat Sheet - will be available on Thursday 7/18. They will be posted on the RSL site and be available in the SwimTopia app - https://rsl.swimtopia.com/

Please reach out if you have any questions. GO Torpedoes!!!

Swim-A-Thon
Lake Wilderness Pool
Start: 8:00 PM
End: 10:00 PM

10 and unders will swim from 8 PM to 9 PM and 11 and overs will swim from 9 PM to 10 PM. We will have karaoke and ice cream.  This year we have a challenge for our swimmers - do you think you can swim a half mile, a mile, 1.5 miles or maybe even 2 miles? It sounds like a LOT of swimming but our swimmers are up to the challenge (one mile is equivalent to 66 lengths of the pool). Through fundraising we maintain some of the lowest registration fees in the league while continuing to attract highly skilled coaches. Fundraising can also help defray the costs to the individual families (you can sell / ask for sponsorships from friends, neighbors, extended family, etc.).This year, fundraising will be used for two specific items; replacing kickboards and maintaining our starting equipment. So, reach out to your friends and family and ask them to help support the swim team. Maybe they would be willing to donate $5 if you swim a half mile. Print out your pledge sheet here: 2024 Pledge Sheet.  Thank you for all you do to support your swimmer(s) and the Lake Wilderness Torpedoes.
